Face validity

The extent to which a measure appears to be valid to those being measured.

Focus group

A form of qualitative research where groups of between 6-12 people participate in a discussion about the topic of interest. A moderator or facilitator ensures that the discussion runs smoothly and stays on topic.

Formative evaluation

Research to inform of progress and improvement with particular programs (process and outcome).

Frequency

The number and/or percentage of units (e.g. people) in different categories of the variable.

Frequency table

A table that displays the number and/or percentage of units (e.g. people) in different categories of the variable. A summary that provides a count of how many times each variable value is represented in the sample.
